EMPLOYER BEST PRACTICES DURING AN OSHA INSPECTION

Alex Wheatley is an associate in Fisher Phillip’s Portland office. Alex defends employers in employment-related administrative claims and lawsuits. He also advises and provides training to company owners and supervisors on issues relating to workplace discrimination, family leave, wage and hour laws, and non-competition, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements.
In this seminar, we will explore how to plan and prepare for potential OSHA inspections and discuss employer best practices in the event of an OSHA inspection. Few things cause employers more anxiety than an unannounced inspection by OSHA. However, proper planning and a strong understanding of OSHA’s role and the employer’s rights and obligations can significantly reduce that fear. We will examine the limits of OSHA’s inspection authority, employers’ rights during such inspections, and the steps employers should take before, during, and after the inspection to ensure the best possible outcome.
