Scholarships

The Lower Columbia Human Resources Management Association (LCHRMA) awards scholarships up to $1,000.00 scholarship to graduating high school students attending a Clatsop, Tillamook, Columbia, or Pacific (WA) County High School or current college students who have a home of record from one of these counties and will be continuing their education in the fall.

The intent of the LCHRMA Scholarship is to help finance education to students pursuing a career in busines, especially those interested in the Human Resource field. Scholarship funds may be applied to tuition, books, and fees for the fall term at an accredited college or university.

The LCHRMA scholarship committee will select the scholarship winner based on merit. The committee’s award decision is final.

2017 LCHRMA Scholarship Award Winner

LCHRMA is proud to award a $1000 scholarship to Sage Miller of Clatskanie! Sage will graduate in 2017 and plans to attend the University of Oregon studying Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Marketing/Management. Sage was National Honor Society President, captain of the Varsity volleyball and basketball teams, and a 4.0 valedictorian. LCHRMA wishes her success in her future college and career.

 

Scholarships are possible in part due to attendance at LCHRMA events!  All proceeds go to fund the LCHRMA scholarship program. Thank you to those attending our monthly meetings; each one of you has contributed to the cause!  If you have not been to a meeting, all are welcome!  You need not be a member to attend.  Thank you, all!

Northwest Human Resources Management (NHRMA) Scholarships

Each year NHRMA honors students who desire to pursue a career in Human Resources with two prominent awards. NHRMA generally accepts applications and nominations for the Robert Denomy (undergraduate) and Sharon Koss (graduate) awards beginning in June of each year.  A basic summary of these awards is below and detailed nomination criteria can be found on the NHRMA web site: http://www.nhrma.org/Services/Professional-Recognition/Awards

The ROBERT W. DENOMY UNDERGRADUATE AWARD recognizes an outstanding undergraduate student who has maintained excellent academic standing as well as performed outstanding service to their local student SHRM chapter, the community, etc.  The winning nominee will receive a monetary award of $1,000, FREE registration to the 2015 NHRMA Conference in Portland, Oregon, Reimbursement for travel and lodging to attend the conference, a commemorative engraved plaque, and formal recognition at the 2015 NHRMA Conference.   Students may be nominated by an advisor, SHRM member, or self-nominate.  Nomination forms (attached) are DUE July 15, 2015.

The SHARON KOSS GRADUATE AWARD recognizes an outstanding graduate student who has maintained excellent academic standing as well as performed outstanding service to their local professional or student SHRM chapter, and the community, etc.  The winning nominee will receive a monetary award of $1,000, FREE registration to the 2015 NHRMA Conference in Portland, Oregon, reimbursement for travel and lodging to attend the conference, a commemorative engraved plaque, and formal recognition at the 2015 NHRMA Conference.   Students may be nominated by an advisor, SHRM member, or self-nominate.  Nomination forms (attached) are DUE July 15, 2015.
